Bridesmaids gift
There is a nice tradition in which bridesmaids remain with the bride before and at the time of the wedding. They make the wedding day of the bride a perfect day. Bridesmaids play the role of friends, confidants, advisors and cake tasters throughout the months leading up to the wedding day.

They assist the bride with every task up to the bouquet toss where the new Mr. and Mrs. Bid farewell. At the time of wedding it is now the times to say thank you to the bridesmaids and appreciate their help. Because of this, they get different beautiful gifts.

There are two types of gifts that you can give to bridesmaids: traditional and non-traditional. You can opt to monogram the name of the bridesmaids on the accessory that you are giving them. Gifts that are made manually also look good. You can give a knitted scarf, blanket, etc. A good wine bottle is also a good option. You can also give a bag of lotions and other makeup accessories.

A pearl necklace or bracelet is also a good option. You can give a good jewelry piece which the bridesmaids can wear at the time of wedding. A photo frame is also a beautiful gift which you can give after the wedding with the picture of the bride with the bridesmaids. It makes and elegant reminder of the distinctive day.

There is also a creative gift like tickets to a concert or any sporting event or tickets for a ballet show. You can also check for the bridal gifts on internet. Search on Google and you find a number of sites that are involved in giving bridesmaids gift ideas. You can also select the gifts by categories like jewelry, cameras, table decoration, etc.

The main advantage of getting bridesmaids gifts online is that you can get the product at your doorsteps and that is within 24 hours. You will also get great discounts that are more than the discounts that are available in the markets. The quality is also superb.

Here are some ideas of the different gifts that you can give to bridesmaids. Breast cancer ribbon merchandise, monogrammed acrylic merchandise, business card cases and business card holders, desk accessories, bridal hair pins and hair combs, bridesmaids leather gifts, key chains and key rings, picture frames and photo albums, jewelry boxes, compact mirrors, personalized compact mirror, embroidered and personalizes gifts, fashion designer handbags, celebrity inspired bags, bridal handbags and evening purses, sterling gifts, maid of honor gifts, personalizes cosmetic bags, etc.

There are many different gift ideas. The latest gift trend is a reasonable and affordable bridesmaid’s gown. Choosing a dress that fits your budget and is affordable is the best appreciation for help of bridesmaids.

Katy Perry and Russell Brand are yet to set a wedding date. The ‘I Kissed A Girl’ singer and the British comedian got engaged on New Year’s Eve (31.12.09) after a whirlwind romance but Katy insists they will only tie the knot when they feel the time is right, despite recent reports they had already advised friends of which dates to keep free for the ceremony.

She said: “We love each other and we desperately want to be with each other, so we’re going to take it as we come. “I think the right time will be the right time.”

British singer Amy Winehouse’s plans to marry Blake Fielder-Civil have been rocked by the claims of a woman that she has been having an affair with the singer’s fiance.

The troubled star was preparing to remarry Fielder-Civil in the Caribbean next month but another women, Sarah Aspin, claims that the singer’s ex-husband promised to wed her months ago, reports dailystar.co.uk.

According to Aspin, she fell in love with Fielder-Civil after meeting him at the Phoenix Futures drug rehab centre in April in 2009.

The first recorded instance of a “toast” to a person is in 1649 – when the spiced toast was taken to a lady - and the Master of the Toast or Toastmaster, or latterly the Butler, thereafter took on the role of proposing the toasts.
The Toastmaster became more of a “personality” in 1705 when Richard “Beau” Nash set himself up as a master of ceremonies in Bath and later in Tunbridge Wells. In the eighteenth century there were even special toastmaster glasses, having deceptively thick bowls that held a small quantity of drink, thus enabling the Toastmaster to propose numerous toasts with minimal ill effects.
The red coat originated in 1894 when noted Toastmaster William Knight Smith, concerned at being mistaken for a butler, was persuaded by his wife to wear a toat in military red; the Prince of Wales (later Edward the Seventh) approved of the colour which from that day forward has been recognised as the mark of the modern Toastmaster.

However, the exact origins and history of the red-coated English Toastmaster are not entirely clear. The practice of drinking to the health of guests, dignitaries, gods and goddesses dates from antiquity; it is generally accepted that the association of the term “toast” with the drinking of someone’s health came about through the custom (from the Middle Ages) of adding spiced toast to wine to improve the flavour, the Steward carrying out this duty being known as the “Master of the Toast”.

Weddings are for the family. The couple can wait

The Richard Curtis wedding – village church, silly hats, Hugh Grant pulling faces – is going out of fashion. One in six couples now prefer to get married abroad. They want something secular, hot and relaxed. Suspension of their everyday lives, freedom from their in-laws, wedding shots framed in Caribbean sunshine.

They are pitifully misguided. I bet those who marry abroad are more likely to end up in the divorce courts. Marriages for life have to be rooted in life. Whenever I read of a “fairy tale” wedding, I am sure it is precisely that. It is no good blaming the curse of Hello! for the celebrity beach weddings that end up on the rocks. Hello! is just the bad fairy at a predestined fiasco. If you are standing at the altar in a bikini, you will sink rather than swim. As soon as I saw Renée Zellweger flinging off her Bridget Jones status in the Virgin Islands I made haggish predictions that she would be back on the Chardonnay and fags before winter.

Sometimes beach weddings can disappear in a puff of smoke. Poor Jerry Hall got her Indonesian ceremony, only for Mick Jagger triumphantly to annul it, claiming it had no standing in English law. Couples who get married abroad understand, deep down, that it is a fantasy. Only Peaches Geldof had the sincerity to admit it. She could have said that a trip to Las Vegas was the joining of souls, unencumbered by worldly concerns such as guest lists and music. But she knew, really, that it was a lark to irritate her famous dad. It was never a long-term strategy.

Weddings, like Christmas, are about family structures. They are necessarily stressful and exasperating. You are blending relatives and friends and, more poignantly, enacting a rite of passage. The sight of a father walking his daughter down the aisle is as moving as the kiss of entitlement from the groom. This emotional casting off demands an element of ritual. The point about tradition is that it is a brilliant balm for disruptive events. The best way to deal with grief or ecstasy is a lusty hymn. Those best skilled in the ceremony of death are the Armed Forces. Formality is the basis for dignity.

I am not – much – of a Puritan. I am not saying there is no place for abroad. But looking at the list of top wedding destinations – Cyprus, Italy, Greek Islands, Caribbean, Mauritius – there’s an obvious flaw. These are honeymoon destinations. The honeymoon has a completely different function from a wedding. It doesn’t have to be at Chesil Beach. It is the place where you can laugh about the monstrous absurdities of family over prawn curry. But you can enjoy your liberation, only because you have experienced the full claustrophobia of family events. It is one of the simplest lessons in life. There cannot be reward without effort. It is because we are trying to skip the difficult bits of life that we are damaging our moral immune systems. Hence the collapse of so many “fairy tale” marriages.

Couples who opt for holidays rather than weddings are abusing their social obligations. They’d rather spend money on themselves than on others. They are like those businesses that use the excuse of a recession for mean-spirited behaviour, laying people off because they can, rather than because they need to.

If you are going to marry in Italy, you should not sneak off there on your own. You should emulate the exemplary Mr and Mrs Wayne Rooney, and fly Croxteth out, in all its brawling, drink-fuelled majesty.

The traditional British wedding is being replaced by brides and grooms exchanging vows on the beach, a report claims, with one in six marriages now taking place abroad.

Put off by the thought of a service in a draughty church or an expensive reception in the local hotel, tens of thousands of couples are now choosing to get married in sunnier climes at a third of the cost.

The market for bikini weddings has expanded by 43 per cent in the past five years alone, research suggests, and is predicted to grow still further as Britain heads into recession.

“Getting married abroad has become an increasingly popular choice for couples looking to tie the knot,” according to Tom Rees, senior travel analyst at the market research firm Mintel.

“As the credit crunch bites and recession looms, this could be the perfect cost-saving measure allowing couples to have the wedding day they have always dreamed of.”

Official figures show that the number of marriages is lower than it has been for more than a century, as more and more people co-habit or live alone.

For the first time since records began, the number of married couples has dropped to fewer than half of the adult population.

Of those who still do get married, an increasing proportion are choosing to do so abroad, inspired by the lower costs, the higher temperatures and the allure of a more exotic location than the parish church.

Mintel estimates that as many as 51,300 British couples got married abroad this year, 16 per cent of the 320,000 total, up from 35,800 in 2003.

It predicts that as foreign weddings continue to gain in popularity while overall numbers fall, weddings abroad will account for 17.7 per cent of the market in a further five years’ time.

The firm says the market is now worth £333million, with a further £566m being spent on honeymoons.

Yet it claims the average foreign wedding costs just £6,500 - compared with as much as £20,000 for a UK-based ceremony.

Cyprus is the most visited destination for British couples marrying overseas, with the Caribbean popular with those who have more money to spend.

However, Mintel says more unusual locations are now being chosen away from the beach, such as Austria, Lapland and Iceland.

Opposition from loved ones appears to be no bar to couples marrying abroad, with Mintel’s research showing that only 28 per cent of 2,000 people questioned wanted to have their wedding at home in the presence of friends and family.

To avoid the red tape and legal requirements of foreign countries, Mintel says couples are increasingly having a small marriage ceremony in Britain followed by a larger “confirmation ceremony” abroad.

Mr Rees added: “The market is benefiting from a growing willingness amongst couples to break with social convention and experiment with new wedding styles. From beach ceremonies in the Caribbean to ’snow weddings’ in Lapland, this special occasion has certainly become more niche and personalised.”

Having someone with responsibility for these elements of the reception will ensure that the event runs smoothly, eliminating pauses where the bridal party and guests aren’t sure what’s happening or what to do next.
Etiquette and protocol
The proposing of formal toasts should be considered as a particular and special honour or reward. In most cases, apart from State occasions, Civic receptions, and Wedding receptions, there is usually certain local customs and traditions that need to be maintained.
With many toasts, the recipient is expected to formally reply with a speech which could vary in length depending upon the purpose of the toast and the occasion. If a formal reply is expected, the recipient should be briefed in advance of the occasion. It is however, customary for quests to stand when giving the toast, with the exception of the recipient who will remain seated.
This custom is waived at Royal Navy dinners on board ship and is observed today at Royal Navel dinners when the Toast to the Immortal Memory of Admiral Lord Nelson is proposed at traditional Trafalgar Night dinners usually held in October each year.
There are a number of general and conventional toasts which need to be included at any formal gathering or meal. Toasts are usually made at the end of a meal, with the exception of State events, where they can be made before the meal commences.
